Monster Steps Privacy Policy

Monster Steps ("the app") is a step-counter app for iPhone. This policy describes what data the app uses and what leaves your device.
Health data
The app reads step counts from Apple Health (HealthKit) so it can convert your walking into XP and show charts. Step counts stay on your phone. They are never uploaded to a server, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising.
You can revoke Health access at any time in Settings → Apps → Health → Data Access & Devices → Monster Steps.
Data stored on your device
The app stores your monster progress (XP, level, colour, daily step goal) and a local claim ledger on your device, including in an App Group so home-screen widgets can update. This data does not leave your phone.
Analytics
The app may send anonymous product-usage events (for example which tabs you open, or that a claim happened) to PostHog so the developer can understand how the app is used. These events:
- are not linked to your name or Apple ID
- do not include step counts or exact XP amounts
- are not used for advertising or tracking across other apps
- carry an anonymous device identifier so visits from the same phone can be counted together
The app does not use an advertising identifier (IDFA), does not do cross-app tracking, and does not record session replays.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Subscription status is checked via RevenueCat. Payment details are processed by Apple, not by Monster Steps.
Notifications
If you opt in, the app can send a local daily reminder to collect XP. These notifications are scheduled on your device and do not require sending data to a server.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
