Cudex Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Cudex ("the app", formerly Monster Steps), an iPhone and Apple Watch app that turns your daily walking into a collection of virtual monsters. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

The app

Cudex reads step counts from Apple Health and converts them into XP when you collect them. XP raises your level, and each level adds a monster to your collection. The app is for personal, non-commercial use.

Free and paid features

The app is free to use. Some features, such as widgets, the Insights tab, rare monsters and most shop items, need a paid plan ("Cudex Pro"). Plans may include monthly, yearly, or lifetime options. Prices are shown in the app at the time of purchase and are charged through your Apple ID via the App Store.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
• A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription, and does not renew.
• If a free trial is offered and you are eligible, it converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends.

Payment processing, refunds, and billing disputes are handled by Apple under the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Your progress

XP, monsters, badges and coins are stored on your device. Uninstalling the app, clearing its data, or changing devices may result in loss of progress. The copy of your profile kept for Friends is not a backup and cannot be used to restore progress.

If a subscription lapses, the paid features lock again. Nothing you have already earned is deleted, including monsters you found while subscribed.

Coins

Coins are earned by walking and can only be spent on items in the app. They have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and are not refunded if you delete the app. We may correct a balance that was changed by a bug.

Friends

Friends is optional. When you join, your username, step counts and game progress are shared with the people you add as friends. The privacy policy lists exactly what is shared.

Only share your friend code with people you want to see this. You can remove a friend, or delete your Friends account, at any time in the app.

Your username is visible to your friends. It must not be offensive, hateful, sexual or threatening, must not pretend to be another person, and must not contain personal information such as a phone number. We may change a username or delete an account that breaks these rules. To report one, email us at the address below with their friend code.

We may change Friends, or switch it off, at any time.

Health information

The app is for motivation and entertainment. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Always follow guidance from a qualified health professional for health decisions.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• misuse, reverse engineer, or interfere with the app or its server
• attempt to manipulate XP, steps, coins or purchases unfairly
• use Friends to harass anyone
• use the app in any way that breaks applicable law

Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of progress or data on your device.

Privacy

How the app handles data is described in the privacy policy.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.
